Keynote Speakers:
Bruce L. and Christine P. Olsen President and Matron of the San Diego Temple Bruce L. Olsen has served as the managing director of the Public Affairs Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the last nineteen years. His assignment included the direction of worldwide offices in eleven countries and domestic offices in Washington, D. C., New York and Los Angeles. He was responsible for government affairs, community relations, interfaith and media relations programs for the Church. Previously, he served in administration at Brigham Young University, where he was assistant dean and registrar and assistant to the president for university relations. As an associate professor he also taught full time in the Department of Communications. President Olsen is a native of Orangeville, Utah. He holds both bachelors and masters degrees from Brigham Young University. He is immediate-past president of the BYU 370,000-member Alumni Association. His Church service includes Young Men General Board, Stake President and twice as a Bishop. President and Sister Olsen served from 1982-1985 as president to the Massachusetts Boston Mission. Sister Christine Payne Olsen was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a baccalaureate in nursing. Sister Olsen has served in a Stake Relief Society Presidency three times and as Stake and Ward YW President. For 6 years she served on the Young Women General Board. President and Sister Olsen are the parents of five children and thirteen grandchildren. |
This year's conference promises to be one of the best yet! Our conference will begin with a special Single Adult session at the Los Angeles Temple
on Thursday, October 21st. The chapel session will be at 6:45pm, with the endowment session beginning at 7:30pm.

Friday night from 8:00pm to 12:00pm will be a dance with a live band, The Beatless, and "Mix & Mingle" at the beautiful
Poinsettia Pavilion,

Saturday's activities begin with breakfast at 9:00am at the Ventura California Stake Center, 3501 Loma Vista Rd, Ventura, CA 93003. (Yes, you get to sleep in a little after Friday night's activities...) The opening session begins at 10:00am, where we will hear from President and Sister Olsen, and our presiding area authority. |

Workshops will be presented in two sessions for each workshop, one before and one after lunch. These will include: Maximize Your Health presented by Joan Beem Learning to Love Your Label presented by Diane Carroll Cooking Under Pressure presented by Amy Griffeth What Next? How do we proceed in faith to go forward? presented by Inella Hoggan Dare to Dream, Dare to Be presented by Joe Kwan                                                                                 Lunch is provided from 12:30pm to 1:15pm. |
Following the second workshop session on Saturday afternoon, you may want to "press" forward with a tour and tasting at the Ojai Olive Oil Company.
Rain or shine, they will be waiting at the barn, ready to welcome visitors who come to tour the Asquith Farm’s olive grove and taste their products.

Beach Activities will center around San Buenaventura State Beach. This is where we will start our Beach Cleanup Service Project and the Coastal Bike Ride. Groups returning from the Harbor, Downtown, Hike, and Olive Mill Tour will gather at the beach for activities including volleyball, kayaking, croquet, sandcastle building, horse shoes, and frisbee as well as table top games and activities. Be sure to being lots of suncreen! Dinner is from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, followed by great entertainment and a dance at the Ventura Stake Center. Sunday winds up the conference on a spiritual note with Sacrament Meeting at 9:00am, where we will hear from our presiding area authority. If there is sufficient interest, a choir made up of those attending the conference will perform a special musical number. |
